" Acentunios, Rien!" "SCHNELL!!!" "Ned Links!!!" It's the Nazi guy from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade!

A Hero for the ages

Indiana Jones. Who ever would've thought that the hero of the U.S. during the pre U.S. entry into World War II could've been an archeologist and college proffesor. Who was it that stopped the Nazi regime from having the all powerful ark? Who was it that stopped the evil trader Walter Donovan from taking the Holy Grail all to himself. Who is the man who provided so many cheesy lines for us like "Nice try Lowcha." to his awesome hard core lines like, "I TOLD YOU...(Machine Gun Fires) Don't call me junior."

But what truly makes a hero? Is it his super powers or his ability to fly? No, a true hero is a man who wears a worn out leather jacket, a brown hat and carries a whip at his side. The true and only true hero is the legendary......INDIANA JONES!!!

A Tribute to Pops

In honor of Father's Day I just wanted to share some memories of my favorite dad. I can always remember how fun he was (and still is). I have this really sweet memory of dad telling us stories at night time that he made up. We would pile onto the bed and listen to what crazy storyline he would create. He would do all the voices, like Herbert. I just thought he was the greatest and that he knew and could do everything. Dad brought so much imagination and fun into our childhood and I just want to tell you, Dad, that I love you and you are the greatest dad!

What are your favorite memories or things about dad?

Only in Cowboy Country

When we were traveling through Evanston, WY on our way home from visiting Heather we stopped at McDonald's. It was actually the nicest McDonald's I have ever seen (and we have seen a lot in the past few weeks). There were fountains on the walls and HD tvs in the bathrooms and in the restaurant. The children's play place was so clean and there were all of these little tables that had saddles for chairs. I really looked like an out-of-towner when I took this picture, but I couldn't help it. It was so cute!

May 25, 1977: A Far Time Ago in a Galaxy Long, Long Away . . .

The year 1977 is significant and worthy of commemorating for many reasons:
--It snowed for the first and only time in Miami, FL.
--Roy Sullivan was struck by lightening for the seventh and last time.
--Led Zeplin played their final concert in the United States in Oakland, CA.
--And the Chinese Communist leader Deng Xiaoping was restored to power.
--1977 also welcomed to the world some of the Earth's greatest human beings: Orlando Bloom, Liv Tyler, Kanye West, Becky Boyce, Milo Ventimiglia, and Vince Carter.

But who among us can forget the REAL reason why 1977 is pretty much the raddest year in the history of the world? If you don't know what I'm talking about yet, I have only five words for you: "You scruffy-looking nerf herder!"

So you think you can quote "Stars Wars" better than anyone else? Bring it on!

That kind of day, huh?

"So I'm having a bad hair day, a bad face day, I feel fat and there are hundreds of people walking by and laughing. I haven't moved in over and hour. What's it to you?"

The Prom Date

This idea has potential for a great
teen horror movie, you think?

Beachnut - the condensed history

While I was very young (ages 1-6), our family live in Redondo Beach in So. Cal. I loved the beach and still have very fond memories of going their and just watching the people. Even then (the mid 1950's), there were some pretty strange people who hung out at the beach. Many people actually lived on the beach. Back then we didn't call them homeless (the beach was their home...)we called them beach combers. I'm sure this was because they would walk up and down the beach combing through garbage cans or disgarded piles of junk looking for treasures. There was this one old guy who had an an old fashioned full bodied striped swimming suit. Even back then he looked pretty funnny to a five year old. Well my friend John Meier and I used to call him the beach nut (I can't explain why...just think 5 years old, maybe it will make sense to you). Anyway one night I was spending the night at the Meiers and I had no pajamas so John let me borrow his. He took an old pair of very brightly striped pajama bottoms from his dad's dresser drawer and pulled them on and the went all the way up to his neck. He placed his arms and hands in the legs and pushed out as far as he could and said "look I'm a beach nut"! Sure enough, he looked like one to me....so Annie, there you have it.

30 Reasons to Love Becky

For Becky's grand 30th birthday I sent her this list of 30 reasons to love her. I thought all of you would like to read it too. It is so Becky.

30 Reasons to love Becky

1. When she gets excited about something she talks really fast and like says like a lot.
2. She can make friends with anyone.
3. She will find a reason to bake, whether it is a birthday, a rainy day, trying to form allies, or she just really wants to eat cookie dough.
4. If Becky doesn’t like you, you must really be a horrible person.
5. She has this ability to disappear when the dishes need to be done.
6. She doesn’t get annoyed with her little sister; at least she doesn’t let it show.
7. If she does get annoyed with her little sister, she will laugh about it later.
8. Her personality is defined by her sometimes clueless antics.
9. She loves to get excited about doing these really fun things when we get together as a family and then we never do them.
10. She will have long conversations with you to analyze the details of her personal life.
11. She will drive long distances with a friend just because they need someone to come along.
12. She once went through a Beatles/hippie phase and wanted to drive a VW Bug with flowers painted all over it.
13. She loves music and is popular for creating “the best of” and “greatest hits” CDs.
14. She plays the piano and has a beautiful singing voice, but she would never let anyone know.
15. She has an apparent ability to make smart guys “dumb” when they like her.
16. When her little sister was in junior high she thought Becky was the coolest big sister ever and wanted to be just like her.
17. Her little sister still thinks Becky is the coolest big sister ever, but she loves Becky for being different than herself.
18. When you are driving with her, don’t let her talk or she will miss the turn.
19. To her, U2 is another way of saying, “All that is good in this world.”
20. She knows that she is not perfect and please, why try?
21. She thinks her love life should be like Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy’s.
22. The words “rad” and “awesome” are a part of her top 10 most frequently used words.
23. She loves to be outside and enjoys finding herself in the beauties of the natural world.
24. She is smart…I mean it, really.
25. If you ever have to share a room with her she will get the real bed and you can have the trundle.
26. For her, life without books wouldn’t be life at all.
27. Her idea of a vacation is teaching to poor children in India.
28. Deciding what she wants to do with her life has been a series of ever changing plans.
29. You know those movies that you are embarrassed to admit that you like? Well, she likes a multitude of those.
30. She is turning 30 and she rocks!

I'm A Beach Nut!

I have these crazy memories of dad being a beach nut and all of us doing it and being all wild and crazy about it. It wasn't just the hands in our pants pulled high up to our chests, but the bouncing up and down while doing it that was so much fun. And it was usually done in pajamas, I'm assuming because of the elastic waist. I realize now that it would be difficult to do in a pair of jeans. I am passing on the tradition to my own children. What is a beach/beech nut anyway?! I don't even know how it is spelled!! Does anyone have any idea?

It has begun!

The legend finally has come. The long awaited web site of poochusneechus has arrived! It is time for the quotes to come out of hiding!

"I was going to go the the "tavy" stations (or whatever he says) to pick up some power converters!" -Luke Skywalker, Star Wars

"Schnell! Ned links!" -The Nazi guy from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

K Dot C Dot

When one of my roommates met K.C. for the first time a few weeks ago, she said, "Wow! You look really different in real life than you do in pictures. I wouldn't have recognized you." Gosh, I wonder what she meant by that?
