A Tribute to Pops

In honor of Father's Day I just wanted to share some memories of my favorite dad. I can always remember how fun he was (and still is). I have this really sweet memory of dad telling us stories at night time that he made up. We would pile onto the bed and listen to what crazy storyline he would create. He would do all the voices, like Herbert. I just thought he was the greatest and that he knew and could do everything. Dad brought so much imagination and fun into our childhood and I just want to tell you, Dad, that I love you and you are the greatest dad!

What are your favorite memories or things about dad?

"Once upon a time, there was a man from San Francisco . . . Mmmmmmmmwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaa!" Yeah, dad, you sure did have a lot of fun scaring you little kids. Lucky for you we liked it:) Here's a list of some of my favorite Papa Boyce memories:

1. Forgetting that you left something in he broiler and burning it EVERY TIME.
2. The Tickle Machine
3. Sitting on your bed while you read us The Hobbit. "My preciousssss."
4. Your Christmas morning breakfasts
5. Your mission stories that we heard every time the missionaries came over for dinner, the one about Denim Springs especially:)

Love you, Dad!

Oh, I just remembered another one!

"Goodnight, ladies. Goodnight, ladies. Goodnight, ladies, we're going to leave you now. Merrily we roll along, roll along, roll along. Merrily we roll along it's time to say goodbye."

I had many restful nights thanks to that song.

Thanks to the best father-in-law in the world. I can remember how scared I was that night I called to ask if I could marry your daughter. I wasn't sure what to call you. I had never even met you. I remember asking Annie should I call him Brother Boyce, President Boyce, Dave, or Dad? I think I settled on Brother Boyce. You treated me with respect then and have ever since. Thanks for raising such a great daughter and being such a great father-in-law. Happy Father's Day!

Olivia says, "he says, 'hmm hmm hmm Bahhh.' I like Grandpa because he plays with me. He likes to play on the slide with me. I want to play pretend like monsters with him. I love you!"

One of my most favorite memories of dad is when he used to tell me,"Tyler, Sir Winston Churchill said,'there is nothing to fear than fear itself.'" When it was really FDR who said it. One of my most favorite dad quotes which K.C. know's very well is when we were driving to Utah with grandma and grandpa Boyce driving in a seperate car and I couldn't count on my fingers how many times dad saw Grandpa drive past him and dad would say, "WHERE'S DAD GOING!"

Your the greatest dad!

my favorite memory is when i would say a simple phrase like "im hungry" and dad would break out in some song from the 50s or 60s that had that line in it no matter what it was...
haha...another good one is "PUMPERNICKLE VAALLLLEEEYYYY!!" on the way to utah. and who could ever forget the infamous.. "ive got news for you..."
OOOOOOO or when dad used to teach me to swim by throwing me in the pool without my waterwings on...

Hey I've got news for all of you guys...

There really was a man from San Francisco...(you should be really, really scared!)

I like things really crispy...

I was just a scared as Joey was...
(well maybe not quite as scared)

I'm not so sure that I've gotten off on the right tract with my granddaughter..."Grandpa reminds me of monsters"?!? Help me out here mommy...

I only attributed that famous quote to Sir Winston because he and the English had more to fear than did FDR and the Americans (it made for a better quote....) Are you sure it wasn't Winney???

You've got to admit that Pumpernickle Vaaallleeeyyy does roll off the tongue nicely...

and finally, Poochus (and the rest of you guys for that matter), remember when you were being thrown in the swimming pool, You had "nothing to fear but fear its self".

I love you all,

Pops

P.S. Do you know the way to San Jose? I hope so.... Aloha
